Water is life

Water in focus. Water filter for domestic use

Water is an essential part of our lives. We drink it, swim in it and clean with it. But what happens to water when we use it for household purposes? In this article we discuss the importance of water filters for home use and give some tips on how to choose the best one for your needs.

The earth, our blue planet, is two-thirds covered with water. Life on earth is not possible without water. The UN General Assembly unanimously declared access to clean drinking water and basic sanitation as a human right.

Our body alone consists of two-thirds water. In its bound form, it is involved in all vital processes in our cells. Water is therefore of central importance for us and for people. The normal fluid requirement alone is about 2.5 liters per person per day. A lack of water leads to severe health problems. But so does polluted water.

After all, the quality of drinking water determines whether our bodies function without restriction. Pollutants can severely impair vital processes. Mobility and health are literally left high and dry. Water also has an important transport function. It is the task of water to transport nutrients from food to the individual body cells and to flush toxins from the kidneys, intestines and skin. However, if drinking water is prevented from performing this sluicing function, its purifying and detoxifying effect is correspondingly reduced.

To be at peace with yourself, water is the ideal source. With a water filter, also called an osmosis system, you free your tap water from pollutants, so you can access ideal water, thanks to osmosis, for you and your body.

Tap water = drinking water?

Does your tap water really have food quality? Can we trust our tap water completely unfiltered? By way of background: Waterworks are required by law to treat groundwater, surface water and spring water in accordance with the guidelines of the current Drinking Water Ordinance. Only then is the tap water also drinkable without restriction. But how strict are these regulations and what actually happens to the tap water on its way from the waterworks to the tap on your sink? Is there an effective molecular filtration?

A major shortcoming: water is often transported through outdated pipelines. Residues of copper or lead can get into the water here. This poses major health risks, especially for pregnant women, diabetics and small children. Tap water with elevated lead, cadmium, copper and nitrate concentrations should not be used for food preparation. Serious damage to health may result. High nitrate levels are also a problem in connection with galvanized pipes, because of the possible formation of nitrates (carcinogenic).

The limits for pollutants in water may be exemplary in Germany, but the increased environmental impact of pollutants such as nitrates, pesticides, hydrocarbons, heavy metal compounds, chlorine, surfactants, drug residues, hormones, microplastics in drinking water and radioactive substances makes complete purification of drinking water almost impossible, nay mandatory.

Professional water treatment by water filter systems or reverse osmosis plants improves the water quality enormously. Turbidity, microorganisms and certain substances are filtered or at least their concentration is greatly reduced. With the right water filtration system, you can specifically ensure a significantly better water quality.

The source is the tap

Health and well-being with every sip of filtered water. Our recommendation: Only trust water that you treat yourself, i.e. first filter it, then revitalize it as you wish. We will be happy to help you make the right decision. Our reverse osmosis water filtration systems guarantee uncontaminated and pure water of the best quality. Naturally good - the reverse osmosis filtration process takes nature as its model.

Reverse osmosis - How does it work?

Reverse osmosis is proven to be one of the most effective filtration processes. Reverse osmosis technology originates from NASA space research. Freshwater-poor island states use reverse osmosis for seawater desalination. For decades, reverse osmosis has been used in medicine (e.g. for blood washing in dialysis machines), food production, the printing industry and, of course, in the production of drinking water, and new areas of application are constantly being added. More and more private households are recognizing the potential of reverse osmosis water filters.

The multi-stage process begins with the three pre-filters, which are again divided into three phases. First, the water is coarsely cleaned. Sand, rust or other dirt particles are removed with the help of the sediment filter. The activated carbon filter reduces organic compounds such as chlorine, heavy metals, pesticides and gases. The carbon block filter is there to remove micro-sediments. These three pre-filter phases have a life-extending effect on the downstream reverse osmosis membrane.

Only now the water is pressed through the osmosis membrane. The ultra-fine pores of this membrane are comparable to our body cells and have a diameter of just 0.0001 micrometers! For comparison - a human hair has a size of about 70 micrometers! These pores allow only water molecules to pass through, as well as a part of nutritionally valuable minerals (electrolytes). Finally, the water is refreshed by the activated carbon post-filter and odors are removed. With an optional additional filter, additional water revitalization can take place.
